But what is not ok is the stale argument by some people that since Periar spoke Kannada he should have been a Kannadiga. I had read some article long time ago which stated that Periar was fluent not only in kannada and Tamil but also in Telugu. The article stated that in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh Ramaswami Naidu conversed with GORA(Goparaju Ramachandra Rao) quite fluently in Telugu. It is a well known fact that Ramaswami Naicker belongs to Balija Naidu caste. Balija Naidu caste is a Telugu caste and hence his mother tongue should be Telugu and he should be of Telugu origin. Karuthamma is a 1994 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Bharathiraja from a story by M. Rathnakumar.
